Pink Dress

    • 42 in. (3/8 in. wide) Pink satin ribbon
    • Fiberfill (to stuff baby blanket)
    • 1.5 in. Rust yarn (for baby's hair)
    • Clear glue and hot glue gun

    • 2 sets of silver hooks and eyes

    • With size G hook,
        — 9 sc = 2 in., 9 rows/rnds = 2 in.
        — 8 dc = 2 in., 4 rows/rnds = 2 in.

      Gauge Note: You must work to gauges specified or oufits will not look like photo. Change size as necessary to obtain gauge.

SPECIAL STITCH: js (jump stitch): Draw up a lp in next st of previous row, below the row you are working - 2 lps now on hook, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Do not work in the current row behind js. This will create the zigzag pattern on dress.



PINK DRESS WITH ATTACHED SLIP

BODICE
Starting at neck edge with medium pink and size G hook (or size required for gauge), ch 21.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (20 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * across (30 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 3 (armhole shaping): Working in back lp of sts for this row only (front lps will be used for Bodice Ruffle), sc in first 4 sc, ch 3, sk next 7 sc (for right armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), sc in next 8 sc, ch 3, sk next 7 sc (for left armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), sc in last 4 sc (16 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 4: Sc in each sc and ch across (22 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 5-6: Sc in each sc across (22 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 6, ch 3 (in place of ch 1), turn.

SKIRT
ROW 7: Working in front lp of sts for this row only (back lps will be used for slip), 2 dc in each sc across, join to top of beg ch-3 (44 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn. Using contrasting yarn or small safety pin, mark first unworked lp for start of slip.
(Note: You will now be working in rnds instead of rows.)
RND 8: Dc in each dc around, join (44 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 9: * Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (66 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 10: Dc in each dc around, join (66 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 11: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps will be used for Skirt Top Ruffle), * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (88 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 12-13: Dc in each dc around (88 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 13, do not ch 3. Cut light pink, join white. Continuing with white, ch 4, do not turn.

SKIRT BOTTOM RUFFLE
RND 14: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), (dc, ch 1) twice in each dc around, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 (176 dc – not counting beg ch-4). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 15: (Dc, ch 1) in each dc around, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 (forming a ch-4 sp) (176 ch-1 sps, 176 dc – not counting beg ch-4). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 16: (Sc, ch 3) in first ch-4 sp, (sc, ch 3) in each ch-1 sp around, join to first sc (177 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends.

SKIRT TOP RUFFLE
With back neck edge of bodice facing you, join white with sl st to first unworked lp from Skirt Rnd 11 at back joining seam, ch 4.
RND 1: (Dc, ch 1) in same lp as joining, (dc, ch 1) twice in each rem unworked lp around, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-4 (131 dc – not counting beg ch-4). Ch 4, do not turn.
RNDS 2-3: Rep Skirt Bottom Ruffle Rnds 15-16 (At end of Rnd 13 there will be 132 ch-3 sps).

BODICE RUFFLE
With bottom edge of skirt facing you, join white to first unworked lp from Bodice Row 3 at left back opening, ch 4.
ROW 1 (wrong side): (Dc, ch 1) in next 3 unworked lps, (dc, ch 1) in top lp only of 7 sc across top of left armhole, (dc, ch 1) in next 8 unworked lps, (dc, ch 1) in top lp only of 7 sc across top of right armhole, (dc, ch 1) in next 3 unworked lps, dc in last lp (28 ch-1 sps, 1 ch-4 sp). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: (Sc, ch 3) in each ch-1 sp across, sc in ch-4 sp from beg of previous row. Finish off, weave in ends.

SLIP
With neck edge of bodice facing you, fold skirt back over bodice exposing unworked lps from Skirt Row 7. Join light pink to first (marked) unworked lp at back opening, ch 3. Remove marker.
RND 1: Dc in same lp as joining, * 2 dc in next lp, dc in next lp; rep from * around to last lp, 2 dc in last lp, join to top of beg ch-3 (33 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: * Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (44 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 3: * Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * around, join (55 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 4-6: Dc in each dc around, join (55 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 7 (ruffle): Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), 2 dc in each dc around, join (110 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RNDS 8-10: Dc in each dc around, join (110 dc). Ch 3, do not turn. At end of Rnd 10, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 11 (edging): * (Sc, ch 3) in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * around, join to first sc (55 ch-3 sps). Do not ch, do not turn.
RND 12: (Sl st, ch 1, sc, ch 3) in first ch-3 sp, (sc, ch 3) in each rem ch-3 sp around, join (55 ch-3 sps). Finish off, weave in ends. Lower skirt over slip.


FINISHING
STEP 1: Sew 2 sets hooks and eyes to back dress opening: one set at neck edge and one set about 1" below. Place dress on doll.
STEP 2: Place an 18" piece of 3/8" satin ribbon around doll’s waist. Tie into a 3" bow in back. Trim ribbon ends on an angle.
STEP 3: Remove blue bows from doll’s hair. Cut two 12" pieces of 3/8" light pink ribbon. Tie ribbon into a 21/2" bow around each ponytail.
Trim ribbon ends on an angle even with bow.

BABY BLANKET
With white, ch 15.
ROW 1 (wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 2-14: Sc in each sc across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 14, do not ch 1. Cut white, join medium pink. Continuing with medium pink, ch 1, do not turn.
ROW 15 (scalloped edging): Rotating blanket as you work around, * (sc, ch 1, sc) in next row end, sl st in next row end; rep from * in row ends, chs and sc around blanket, join to first sc (28 scallops). Finish off, weave in ends.

BABY DOLL (wood doll head)
HAIR: Fold a 1-1/2" piece of rust yarn in half. Hot glue folded end to top of 20 mm wood doll head. Trim and fray ends.

BLANKET/BABY DOLL FINISHING
Lay blanket, with wrong side facing you, in shape of diamond. Place a small amount of fiberfill in center of blanket. Hot glue wood doll head, face side up and hair to the top, about 1" below top point of blanket. Fold bottom point up over fiberfill, fold right point over bottom point, and left point over right point (bunting style). Hot glue points in place. Lay baby across doll’s left arm (Optional: Hot glue or tie blanket to doll’s arm).
