SPECIAL STITCH: js (jump stitch): Draw up a lp in next st of previous row, below the row you are working - 2 lps now on hook, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Do not work in the current row behind js. This will create the zigzag pattern on dress.



BRIDE’S DRESS

BODICE
(Note: Bodice will fit snuggly.)
Starting at waist edge with white cotton crochet thread and size 1 steel hook (or size required for gauge), loosely ch 31.
ROW 1: (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (30 sc). Mark last ch worked with contrasting yarn or safety pin – for start of skirt. Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 2-6: Sc in each sc across (30 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 7: Sc in first 4 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc; rep from * across to last sc, 2 sc in last sc (36 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 8-9: Sc in each sc across (36 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 10: Work 2 sc in first sc, * sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * across (42 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 11-14: Sc in each sc across (42 sc). Ch 1, turn.
Note: Armholes and necklines will be worked in three separate sections (figure below).






























LEFT BACK ARMHOLE AND NECK EDGE
ROW 15: Sc in first 10 sc, sk remainder of row (Row 15 will be continued later) (10 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 16-17: Sc in each sc across (10 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 18: Sc in first 2 sc, sk remainder of row (for left back neck edge) (2 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 19-21: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 21, do not ch. Finish off, do not turn.

LEFT FRONT ARMHOLE AND NECK EDGE
With right side and waist edge of bodice still facing you, rejoin crochet thread with sl st to first skipped sc from Left Back Armhole and Neck Edge Row 15 (next to section just completed), ch 1.
ROW 15: Sc in same sc as joining and next 21 sc, sk remainder of row (Row 15 will be completed later) (22 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 16: Sc in next 22 sc (22 sc). Mark 2nd sc at beg of this row for right front armhole. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 17: Sc in first 2 sc, sk remainder of row (for front neck edge) (2sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 18-22: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 23: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Do not ch 1. Holding right sides of armhole edges tog, sl st front shoulder edge to back shoulder edge, matching sts (see figure). Finish off.

RIGHT FRONT ARMHOLE AND NECK EDGE
With right side and waist edge of bodice facing you, rejoin crochet thread to marked sc from Left Front Armhole and Neck Edge Row 17, ch 1. Remove this marker only.
ROW 17: Sc in same sc as joining and next sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 18-23: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 23, do not ch 1. Finish off, do not turn.

RIGHT BACK ARMHOLE AND NECK EDGE
With right side and waist edge of bodice still facing you, rejoin crochet thread to next skipped sc from Left Back Armhole and Neck Edge Row 15 (next to front section just completed), ch 1.
ROW 15: Sc in same sc as joining and next 9 sc (10 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 16-17: Sc in next 10 sc (10 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Row 17, do not ch 1. Finish off, turn.
ROW 18: With wrong side facing you, sk first 8 sc, rejoin thread to 9th sc of this section, ch 1. Sc in same sc as joining and next sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 19-20: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 21: Sc in next 2 sc (2 sc). Do not ch 1. Holding right sides of armhole edges tog, sl st front shoulder edge to back shoulder edge, matching sts (see Figure). Finish off, weave in all ends.

NECK EDGING
With wrong side and waist edge of bodice facing you, use size 1 hook and join crochet thread to first sc at right back neck edge, ch 1.
ROW 1: Sc in first 2 sc, * sk next sc, sc in next 2 sc; rep from * once more, work 9 sc, evenly spaced, in row ends around outside edge of armhole, ** sc in next 2 sc, sk next sc; rep from ** four times more, sc in next 3 sc, work 9 sc, evenly spaced, in row ends around outside edge of second armhole, sc in next 2 sc, † sk next sc, sc in next 2 sc;
rep from † once more (43 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Change to size 5 hook, sl st in first sc, * 3 dc in next sc, sk next sc, sc in next sc, sk next sc; rep from * across to last 2 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sl st in last sc (eleven 3-dc groups). Finish off, weave in ends.

SLEEVES (make 2)
With right side and waist edge of bodice facing you, use size 1 hook and join crochet thread with sl st to center underarm, ch 1.
RND 1: Work 29 sc, evenly spaced, around armhole opening, join with sl st to first sc (29 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RND 2: Sk joining sl st, sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next 11 sc, sc in last 9 sc, join to first sc (40 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RNDS 3-14: Sk joining sl st, sc in each sc around, join to first sc (40 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RND 15: Sk joining sl st, * dec over next 2 sc (to dec: draw up a lp in each of next 2 sc- 3 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook), rep from * around, join (20 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RND 16: Sk joining sl st, sc in next 2 sc, * dec over next 2 sc; rep from * 7 times more to last 2 sc, sc in last 2 sc, join (12 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RNDS 17-18: Sk joining sl st, sc in each sc around, join (12 sc). Ch 3, turn.

SLEEVE EDGING
RND 19: Change to size 5 hook, sk joining sl st, 2 dc in next sc, sk next sc, sc in next sc, sk next sc,

SKIRT
With right side and neck edge of bodice facing you, use size 1 hook and join crochet thread to marked beg ch at right waist edge, ch 1. Remove marker.
ROW 1: Work 2 sc in same ch as joining and each rem ch across (60 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROWS 2-4: Sc in each sc across (60 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Sc in each sc across, join to first sc (to close back opening) (60 sc). Ch 1, turn.
(Note: You will now be working back and forth in rnds instead of rows.)
RNDS 6-46 Sk joining sl st, sc in each sc around, join (60 sc). Ch 1, turn.

SKIRT RUFFLE
RND 47: Continuing with size 1 hook, sk joining sl st, 3 sc in each sc around, join (180 sc). Ch 1, turn.
RNDS 48-60: Sk joining sl st, sc in each sc around, join (180 sc). Ch 1, turn. At end of Rnd 60, ch 3 (in place of ch 1), turn.

RUFFLE EDGING
RND 61: Change to size 5 hook, sk joining sl st, 4 dc in next sc, sk next 2 sc, sc in next sc, sk in next 2 sc, * 5 dc in next sc, sk in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, sk next 2 sc; rep from * around, join to top of beg ch-3 (twenty-nine 5-dc groups and one 4-dc group- not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, weave in ends.

BRIDE’S DRESS FINISHING

STEP 1: Sew 4 sets of size 4/0 snap fasteners to back bodice opening: one set at neck edge, one set at waist, and two sets evenly spaced between.
STEP 2: Sew 3 mm pearls around bodice, 2 rows apart and approximately 4 sts apart, staggering placement. Sew 1 pearl at top of each 3-dc group of neck edging.
STEP 3: Sew pearls around sleeves, 3 rows apart and approximately 5 sts apart, staggering placement. Sew 1 pearl at top of each 3-dc group of sleeve edging.
STEP 4: Sew pearls around skirt to ruffle, 4 rows apart and approximately 5 sts apart, staggering placement.
STEP 5: Beg at bottom of skirt ruffle and sew 1 pearl at top of each 5-dc group on ruffle edging. Sew 2 more rows of pearls around ruffle, 4 rows above first row, then 4 rows above 2nd row and approximately 6 sts apart, staggering placement.
STEP 6: Place dress on doll with opening to the back.
















TRAIN
Starting at waist edge with crochet thread and size 5 hook, ch 15.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in each sc across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 3: Work 2 sc in first sc, 3 sc in next sc and each rem sc across (41 sc). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 4: Work 2 dc in first sc, * sc in next sc, 3 dc in next sc; rep from * across (twenty 3-dc groups and one 2-dc group-not counting beg ch-3). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Sk first dc, sc in next dc, * sk next dc, 3 dc in next sc, sk next dc, sc in next dc; rep from * across to ch-3 from beg of previous row, sk beg ch-3 (twenty 3-dc groups). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 6: Work 2 dc in first sc, * sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in next sc; rep from * across (twenty 3-dc groups and one 2-dc group- not counting beg ch-3). Ch 1, turn.

ROWS 11-34: Rep Rows 9-10 twelve times.
ROW 35: Rep Row 9. At end of row, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), turn.
ROW 36: Sk first sc, sc in nest 3 dc, sk next 2 dc, * 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc, sk next 2 dc; rep from * across to last sc, sk last sc (nineteen 5-dc groups). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 37-49: Sk first sc, sc in next 3 dc, * sk next 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, sk next 2 dc, sc in next dc; rep from * across to last 2 dc and last 3 sc, sk last 2 dc and last 3 sc. Ch 1, turn. (There will be one less 5-dc group at end of each row.) At end of Row 49, there will be six 5-dc groups. Do not ch 1, finish off, weave in ends.

TRAIN EDGING
With right side of train facing you, use size 5 hook and join crochet thread to left waist edge in side of last sc row of train waistband, ch 1. Working down left edge of train (placing 5-dc group in side of a sc and placing sc in side of a dc), * work 5 dc in side of next row, sc in side of next row; rep from * 15 times more. Working evenly down left slope, sk next 2 sts, * 5 dc in next st, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts; rep from * 7 times more to bottom edge. Keep in pattern along bottom edge, (working 5-dc group in each sc and sc in center dc of each 5-dc group) 6 times. Working evenly up right slope, sk next 2 sts, * 5 dc in next st, sk next 2 sts, sc in next st, sk next 2 sts; rep from * 7 times more to side edge. Working up right edge, * 5 dc in side of next row, sc in ch-3 sp at side of next row; rep from 15 times more to waist edge (placing last sc in side of last sc row of train waistband) (fifty-two 5-dc groups). Finish off, weave in ends.

TRAIN FINISHING
STEP 1: Sew half of 3 sets of size 4/0 snap fasteners to wrong side of sc rows at top waist edge of train about 1/4 in. from waist edge: 1 snap at center of waist edge and 1 snap at each waist corner. With dress on doll, sew rem half of snap sets to back waist of dress: 1 snap at center back (being careful not to sew back opening closed) and 1 snap at each side of waist to correspond to spacing of snaps on train.
STEP 2: Sew 1 pearl to top of each 3-dc group and each 5-dc group (including edging) on entire train.
STEP 3: Snap train to back of dress.

NECKLACE
String 25 pearls on a 17-in. piece of thread doubled to 8 1/2 in. Place around doll’s neck and tie ends in a double knot. Trim thread ends. Place a drop of glue to secure knot, if desired.

HEADPIECE

Starting at back of headpiece with crochet thread and size 5 hook, ch 12.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (11 sc). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sc in each sc across (11 sc). Ch 1 turn.
ROW 3: Sc in first sc, * 3 dc in next sc, sc in next sc; rep from * across (five 3-dc groups). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 4: Dc in first sc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc, * 3 dc in next sc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
ROW 5: Sk first 2 dc, 3 dc in next sc, * sk next dc, sc in next dc, sk next dc, 3 dc in next sc; rep from * across to last dc, sk last dc, sc in top of ch-3 from beg of previous row. Ch 3, turn.
ROWS 6-7: Rep Rows 4-5.
ROW 8: Rep Row 4. Do not ch-1. Finish off, weave in ends.



HEADPIECE EDGING
With right side of headpiece facing you and beg ch row facing to your right, use size 5 hook and join crochet thread to side of beg ch row, ch 1.
RND 1: Sc in same ch as joining. Work 6 sc evenly spaced along right edge, sc in each of the 21 sts along front edge, and work 7 sc evenly spaced along left edge. Continuing along back edge, sk first 2 beg chs, * sc in next ch, sk next 2 chs; rep from * 2 times more, join to first sc (38 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Sc in same sc as joining, sk next sc, 3 dc in next sc, * sk next sc, sc in nest sc, sk next sc, 3 dc in next sc; rep from * around, join to first sc (ten 3-dc groups). Finish off, weave in ends.

HEADPIECE FINISHING
Sew 1 pearl to top of each 3-dc group, including edging. Set headpiece aside.

VEIL
STEP 1: Cut white tulle 9 x 18 in. Fold one 18-in. edge over to make a 1-in. hem for top of veil. Run a gathering st 3/4 in. below folded edge, through both thicknesses. Gather veil to 1-1/4-in. width; secure thread ends. Round 2 bottom corners.
STEP 2: With folded edge facing up and raw edge of hem facing headpiece, sew basted seam of veil to back of headpiece.
STEP 3: Place headpiece on doll’s head and secure.

BOUQUET
STEP 1: Cut stems of 12 ribbon roses to 1 1/2 in. Twist stems tog tightly to hold cluster tog.
STEP 2: Wrap center of 18-in. piece of white lace around doll’s right wrist. Place flower stems in thumb “groove” of doll’s right hand and tie lace into a 2 1/2-in. bow around hand and top of stems close to flower cluster. Trim lace ends on an angle and let hang.


BRIDESMAID DRESS
Repeat all of Bride’s Dress instructions except for Train and Bride’s Dress Finishing.

BRIDESMAID FINISHING
STEP 1 (waist trim): Sew a 5-in. piece of ribbon around waistband of dress, tucking raw ends around center back edges of dress. Sew half of 1 snap fastener to inside of dress back at right back waist edge. Sew other half of snap fastener to right side of dress at left back waist edge, keeping thread attached. Fold an 8-in. piece of ribbon in half and tack center or ribbon to center back of dress at waistband with ribbon ends falling down back of dress. Tie ribbon into a bow and tack; cut thread. Tie an 11-in. piece of ribbon into a small bow and glue or sew to center front of waist. Glue 1 ribbon rose to center of front bow.
STEP 2: Sew 3 sets of snap fasteners to back bodice opening: 1 set at neck edge, and 2 sets evenly spaced between neck and waist.
STEP 3 (neckline trim): Close neckline snap. Starting at back opening, glue 10 ribbon roses evenly spaced around neckline. Sew a pearl (10 total) between each rose.
STEP 4 (sleeve trim): Glue 1 ribbon rose to the center front of each sleeve band. Sew 1 pearl on each side of rose.
STEP 5: Place dress on doll with opening to the back.
STEP 6 (hair): Comb hair to one side of head. Tie an 8-in. piece of ribbon around hair. Knot to hold; tie into a bow. Glue 1 ribbon rose to center of bow.
STEP 7 (necklace): String 32 pearls on a 22-in. piece of thread doubled to 11 in. Tie around neck. (Put a dab of glue on knot to hold.) Trim thread ends.
STEP 8 (earrings): Glue 1 pearl to each earlobe.
STEP 9 (bouquet): Twist stems of 4 ribbon roses tog. Run a gathering st along 1 long edge of 5-in. piece of 5/8-in. lace. Join ends tog to form a circle. Place around rose stems and gather tightly. Tie a 4-in. piece of ribbon around stems on top of lace. Twist stems around doll’s wrist, tucking under raw ends of wire. Trim all ribbon ends at an angle.
