SPECIAL STITCH: js (jump stitch): Draw up a lp in next st of previous row, below the row you are working - 2 lps
now on hook, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Do not work in the current row behind js. This will create the zigzag pattern on dress.
DRESS
BODICE
(Note: For smoother back edge, do not ch at end of Bodice Rows 1-9.)
Starting at top of bodice with off-white and size G crochet hook (or size required for gauge) ch 47.
ROW 1 (right side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (46 sc). Turn.
ROW 2 (shape armhole): Sc in first 7 sc, ch 4, sk next 9 sc (for left armhole), sc in next 14 sc, ch 4, sk next 9 sc (for right armhole), sc in last 7 sc (28 sc). Turn.
ROW 3: Sc in each sc and ch across (36 sc). Turn.
ROWS 4-6: Sc in each sc and ch across (36 sc). Turn.
ROW 7: Sc in first 6 sc, * dec over next 2 sc (to dec: draw up a lp in next 2 sts - 3 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 3 slps on hook), sc in next 2 sc **, † dec over next 2 sc, sc in next 3 sc ††; rep from † to †† 2 times more; rep from * to ** once more, dec over next 2 sc, sc in last 5 sc (30 sc). Turn.
ROWS 8-9: Sc in each sc across (30 sc). Turn. At end of Row 9, finish off, do not turn.
SKIRT
ROW 10: With right side still facing you, rejoin off-white with sl st to first sc at beg of previous row, ch 3. Dc in same sc as joining, * 2 dc in next sc, dc in next sc; rep from * across to last sc, 2 dc in last sc (45 dc- not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 11: With right side still facing you, rejoin off-white to top of ch-3 at beg of previous row, ch 3. * Dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * across (60 dc- not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 12: With right side still facing you, rejoin off-white to top of ch-3 at beg of previous row, ch 3. * Dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep form * across (75 dc- not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 13: With right side facing you, rejoin off-white to ch-3 as before, ch 3. * Dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc; rep from * across, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3 (to close back opening) (90 dc- not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.

BOTTOM RUFFLE
RND 28: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps rem unworked), hdc in same sc as joining, * ch 1, hdc in next sc; rep from * around, ch 1, join to 2nd ch of beg ch-3 (240 hdc). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 29: Sl st in first hdc, * ch 4, sk next ch-1 sp, sl st in next hdc; rep from * around to last ch-1 sp, ch 4, sk last ch-1 sp, join to first sl st. Finish off, weave in ends.
BODICE RUFFLE
With right side facing you, rejoin off-white to first ch at top bodice left edge, ch 4.
ROW 1: Sk joining ch, trc in next ch, * ch 1, trc in next ch; rep from * across (45 trc- not counting beg ch-4). Ch 1, turn.
ROW 2: Sl st in first trc, * ch 4, sk next ch-1 sp, sl st in next trc; rep from * across, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch of beg ch-4. Finish off, weave in ends. Set dress aside.
SKIRT TRIM
CHERRIES (make 10)
Starting at center of cherry with bright red sport weight yarn and size F crochet hook (or size required for gauge), ch 2.
RND 1 (right side): Work 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join to first sc (5 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 sc in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (10 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 3: Work 2 sc in same sc as joining, * sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around to last sc, sc in last sc, do not join (15 sc). Finish off, weave in end leaving small space between this last sc and first sc (for cherry stem). Set cherries aside.
STEMS (make 5)
With brown and size F hook (or size required for gauge), leaving a 3-in. end (for weaving through back of cherry), ch 25. Finish off, leaving a 3-in. end for weaving through back of 2nd cherry. (Stems will be folded in half with leaves to be attached at fold.) Setting one end of ch length into space between last sc and first sc of Cherries Rnd 3, weave 3-in. end through wrong side of one cherry. Secure and trim end. Being careful not to twist ch length, attach other end of ch to 2nd cherry as before.
LEAVES (make 5)
Starting across center of leaves with medium green and size F hook (or size required for gauge), leaving a 5-in. beg length (for use later to shape leaves center), ch 14. (Right side will face you as you work.). Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, * sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch **; rep from * to ** once more, ch 1, sl st in same ch. Working around opposite side of starting ch, rep from * to ** twice more, join to first sl st. Finish off, leaving a 13-in. end (for sewing leaves to skirt). Thread 5-in. beg length through tapestry needle. Weave yarn through wrong side to center of leaves. Pinch center and sew tightly. Do not finish off. Fold cherry stem in half, making a point of fold. Using remainder of leaves 5-in. beg length, sew point of cherry stem fold to center back of leaves. Weave in end.
DRESS FINISHING
STEP 1: Cut two 78-in. pieces of 3/8-in. black satin ribbon. Starting at center back under ch-3 post, weave 1 ribbon through dc sts of Skirt Rnd 26 (last dc row before skirt ruffle). Sew ends tog on wrong side (trimming if necessary). Starting at center back over ch-3 post, weave 2nd ribbon through dc sts of Skirt Rnd 25. (The 2 rows of ribbons should have a checkerboard effect.) Sew ends tog on wrong side (trimming if necessary).
STEP 2: Lay dress on flat surface with skirt spread into a big circle. Place 1 cherry cluster at center front of skirt with cherries facing down and bottom of cherries about 2 rows above top ribbon row. Pin cluster to skirt. Place rem cherry clusters evenly spaced around skirt and pin in place. With tapestry needle and same color yarn, sew leaves and cherries only (not stems) to skirt as shown in photo. Remove pins.
STEP 3: Sew 3 sets of silver hooks and eyes to back dress opening: 1 set at top of back opening (do not sew to ruffle), 1 set at waist and 1 set evenly spaced between.
STEP 4 (shoulder straps): Place dress on doll and close back hooks. Cut two 3-1/2-in. pieces of 3/8-in.-wide black satin ribbon. Lowering bodice ruffle off the shoulders, place 1 ribbon over a shoulder seam of doll’s body. Fold ribbon ends under about 1/4-in. (to keep from raveling) and pin to top of bodice back and front. Rep with 2nd ribbon over other shoulder. Remove dress and sew ribbons in place. Remove pins. Set dress aside.
SLIP
Starting at waist edge with off-white and size G hook (or size required for gauge), ch 30. Being careful not to twist ch length, join with sl st to beg ch to form a circle, ch 1.
RND 1 (right side): Sc in same ch as joining and each rem ch around, join to beg sc (30 sc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 2: Hdc in same sc as joining and next sc, * 2 hdc in next sc, hdc in next 2 sc; rep from * around to last sc, 2 hdc in last sc, join to top of beg ch-2 (40 hdc- not counting beg ch-2). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 3: * Hdc in next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join to top of beg ch-2 (50 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 4: * Hdc in next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (60 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 5: * Hdc in next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (70 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 6: * Hdc in next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (80 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 7: * Hdc in next 7 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (90 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 8: Hdc in next 4 hdc, * 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 8 hdc; rep from * around to last 5 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in last 4 hdc, join (100 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 9: * Hdc in next 9 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (110 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 10: * Hdc in next 10 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (120 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 11: Working in back lp of sts for this rnd only (front lps will be used for top ruffle), * hdc in next 11 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (130 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 12: Hdc in next 6 hdc, * 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 12 hdc; rep from * around to last 7 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in last 6 hdc, join (140 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 13: * Hdc in next 13 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (150 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 14: * Hdc in next 14 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc; rep from * around, join (160 hdc). Ch 2, do not turn.
RND 15: Hdc in next 7 hdc, * 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in next 15 hdc; rep from * around to last 9 hdc, 2 hdc in next hdc, hdc in last 8 hdc, join (170 hdc). Ch 4, do not turn.
BOTTOM RUFFLE
RND 16: Work 2 trc in each hdc around, join to top of beg ch-4 (340 trc- not counting beg ch-4). Ch 4, do not turn.
RNDS 17-19: Trc in each trc around, join (340 trc). Ch 4, do not turn. At end of Rnd 19, ch 1 (in place of ch 4), do not turn.
RND 20: Trc in each trc around, join (240 trc). Ch 4, do not turn.
TOP RUFFLE
With right side and waist edge of slip facing you, join off-white (with a sl st) in first lp left unworked in Rnd 11, ch 4.
RND 1: Work 2 trc in same lp as joining and each rem lp around, join to top of beg ch-4 (240 trc- not counting beg ch-4). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 2: Trc in each trc around, join (240 trc). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 3: * Trc in next trc, 2 trc in next trc; rep from * around, join (360 trc). Ch 4, do not turn.
RND 4: Rep Top Ruffle Rnd 2 (360 trc).
RND 5: * Trc in each of next 2 trc, 2 trc in next trc; rep from * around, join (480 trc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 6: Sc in next trc, * ch 4, sk next trc, sc in next trc; rep from * around to last trc, ch 4, sk last trc, join to beg sc. Finish off and weave in ends.
WAIST TIE
Thread a 24-in. piece of off-white yarn into tapestry needle. Starting on right side at center back, weave yarn through chs around waist edge of slip. Knot each end of yarn piece and pull even. Place slip on doll and pull yarn tightly to fit waist. Tie securely into a bow. Place a small amount of hot glue or craft glue at doll’s front waist to keep slip in place (optional).
FINISHING
Place dress on doll and close back hooks. Cut a 36-in. piece of 3/8-in.-wide black satin ribbon. Wrap ribbon around doll’s waist and tie in back into a 2-in. bow. Let ends hang down back of dress. Trim ends at an angle.
HAT
STEP 1: Fold remaining piece of 3/8-in.-wide black satin ribbon in half to find midpoint. Starting at center front with midpoint of ribbon, hot glue ribbon around hat just above brim. Tie ribbon into a 2-1/2-in. bow in back. Let ribbon ends hang down. Trim ends on an angle.
STEP 2: Hot glue two 1/4-in. red poms just below ribbon to left of center front. Cut 2-in. of brown yarn. Fold in half. Hot glue 1 end into top of each pom. Hot glue silk leaves to top of yarn fold to look the same as leaves on skirt cherries.
STEP 3: Place hat on doll’s head, pulling all hair through hole in hat crown. Cascade curls over top of crown.
