SPECIAL STITCH: js (jump stitch): Draw up a lp in next st of previous row, below the row you are working - 2 lps
now on hook, yo and draw through both lps on hook. Do not work in the current row behind js. This will create the zigzag pattern on dress.
Note: Throughout instructions, first color mentioned is for solid color bunting (shown in light-green). Second color mentioned in parentheses is for bunting with white trim (shown in pink).
BUNTING
Starting at neck edge with light green (or pink) pompadour baby sport weight yarn and size F crochet hook (or size required for gauge), ch 25.
ROW 1 (wrong side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each rem ch across (24 sc). Ch 3, turn.
ROW 2: Work 2 dc in each sc across (48 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
SPECIAL ST
Popcorn – (yo, draw up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) 5 times – 6 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 6 lps on hook.
ROW 3 With right side still facing you, rejoin yarn with sl st to top of ch-3 at beg of previous row, ch 3. Dc in first 2 dc, popcorn in next dc, * dc in next 5 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * across to last 3 dc, dc in last 3 dc (8 popcorns, 40 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 4: With right side still facing you, rejoin yarn to top of ch-3 at beg of previous row, ch 3. Working into all dc and top of popcorns, * dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * across (64 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 5: With right side still facing you, rejoin yarn to beg of previous row as before, ch 3. * Dc in next 7 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * across to last 8 dc, dc in last 8 dc (7 popcorns, 57 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 6: Rejoin yarn to beg of previous row as before, ch 3. * Dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * across (80 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 7 (armhole shaping): Rejoin yarn to beg of previous row, ch 3. Dc in first 4 dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, ch 5, sk next 20 dc (for left armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), dc in next 4 dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in next 9 dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, ch 5, sk next 20 dc ( for right armhole – fold skipped sts toward you), dc in next 5 dc, popcorn in next dc, dc in last 4 dc (4 popcorns, 36 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 8: Rejoin yarn to beg of previous row, ch 3. Working in all dc, top of popcorns and chs, * dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * across (60 dc). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 9: Rejoin yarn to beg of previous row, ch 3. Dc in first 2 dc, popcorn in next dc, * dc in next 8 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * across to last 3 dc, dc in last 3 dc (7 popcorns, 53 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Finish off, do not turn.
ROW 10: Rejoin yarn to beg of previous row, ch 3. Working in all dc and top of popcorns, * dc in next 5 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * across, join to top of beg ch-3 (to close front opening) (70 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.

RND 11: Dc in first 8 dc, popcorn in next dc, * dc in next 9 dc, popcorn in next dc **, † dc in next 10 dc, popcorn in next dc ††; rep from * to ** twice then repeat from † to †† once, dc in next 8 dc, popcorn in last dc, join (7 popcorns, 63 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 12: * Dc in next 6 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, join (80 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.

RNDS 19-30: Rep Rnds 15-18 three times.
RNDS 31-32: Rep Rnds 15-16 once. At end of Rnd 32, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn.
RND 33: (Beading for Bottom Drawstring): * (Sc, ch 1) in next dc, sk next dc; rep from * around, join to first sc (40 ch-1 sps). Finish off, weave in all ends.
SLEEVES (make 2)
With right side and bottom of bunting facing you, join green (or pink) with sl st to 3rd (center) ch at underarm, ch 1.
RND 1: Sc in same ch as joining and next 2 chs. Working around top of armhole in unworked sts from Bunting Row 7, sc in next dc, hdc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, popcorn in next dc, (dc in next 4 dc, popcorn in next dc) twice, dc in next 2 dc, hdc in next dc, sc in next dc, sc in last 2 chs at underarm, join to first sc (3 popcorns, 7 sc, 2 hdc, 13 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: Dc in same sc as joining and each rem st around, join to top of beg ch-3 (25 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 3: * Dc in next 5 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * around to last dc, dc in last dc, join (4 popcorns, 21 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 4: Dc in each dc around, join (25 dc). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 5: Dc in first 2 dc, popcorn in next dc, * dc in next 5 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * 2 times more, dc in last 4 dc, join (4 popcorns, 21 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 6: Rep Sleeves Rnd 4. For solid (green) bunting, ch 1 (in place of ch 3), do not turn. For bunting with white trim, cut pink, join white. Continuing with white, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 7: * Dec over next 2 dc (to dec: draw up a lp in next 2 sts – 3 lps now on hook, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook); rep from * around to last dc, sc in last dc, join to first sc (13 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 8 (Edging): (Sc, ch 2) in same sc as joining and each rem sc around, join (13 ch-2 sps). Finish off, weave in ends. Set bunting aside.
HOOD
Starting at center back, ch 4. Being careful not to twist ch length, join to first ch to form a circle, ch 3.
RND 1 (right side): Work 12 dc into center of circle, join to top of beg ch-3 (12 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 2: Work 2 dc in each dc around, join (24 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 3: Dc in first dc, * 2 dc in next dc, popcorn in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc; rep from * 4 times more to last 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, popcorn in next dc, 2 dc in last dc, join (6 popcorns, 30 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 4: Working in all dc and top of popcorns, * dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, join (48 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 5: * Popcorn in next dc, dc in next 7 dc; rep from * around, join (6 popcorns, 42 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 6: * Dc in next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, join (60 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 7: Dc in first 5 dc, popcorn in next dc, * dc in next 9 dc, popcorn in next dc; rep from * 4 times more to last 4 dc, dc in last 4 dc, join (6 popcorns, 54 dc – not counting beg ch-3). Ch 3, do not turn.
RND 8: * Dc in next 4 sts, 2 dc in next st; rep from * around, join (72 dc – not counting beg ch-3) For solid (green) bunting, ch 1, do not turn. For bunting with white trim, cut pink, join white. Continuing with white, ch 1, do not turn.
RND 9: * Sc in next 4 dc, dec (as in Sleeves Rnd 7) over next 2 dc; rep from * around, join to first sc (60 sc). Ch 1, do not turn.
RND 10 (Edging): Sc in same sc as joining and next 19 sc (for neck edge – to be sewn to neck edge of bunting), (sc, ch 2) in each rem sc around, join (60 sc, 40 ch-2 sps). Finish off leaving a 15” (38cm) length for sewing hood to bunting. Weave in beg yarn length. Set hood aside.
BUNTING FINISHING
STEP 1 (front edges and ties):
A. Holding bunting with front facing you and neck edge facing to your right, join green (or white) to side of first sc row at bunting left neck edge, ch 1. Sc in same st as joining. Working along left front edge, work 2 sc in side of each of next 9 dc. Rotating bunting as you work around, sl st at bottom of front opening, 2 sc in side of each of 9 dc up right front edge, sc in side of first sc row at right neck edge. Finish off, weave in ends.
B. Leaving a 1" (2.5cm) starting length (for stringing pony bead), with green (or white) ch 25. Continuing with same yarn, with right side of bunting facing you, sc in top sc of bunting right front edge, sc in 24 chs across neck, sc in top sc of left front edge, ch 25. Finish off leaving a 1" end (for stringing pony bead).
C. Rejoin green (or white) yarn to 7th sc down on left front edge, ch 25. Finish off leaving a 1" (2.5cm) end (for stringing beads). Rejoin green (or white) to 14th sc down on left front edge, ch 25. Finish off leaving a 1" end. Repeat procedure on 7th and 14th sc down on right front edge. Weave in all starting yarn ends at top of ties.
D. String 1 white pony bead onto any tie. Push bead up about 1" (2.5cm) on tie. Tie a knot at end of crocheted tie. Trim 1" end. Slide pony bead down to knot. Rep for rem 5 ties.
STEP 2: With tapestry needle and 15" (38cm) yarn end from hood, sew hood neck edge to center 20 sc on bunting neck edge (skipping first 3 sc and last 3 sc). Weave in end.
STEP 3 (bottom drawstring): Leaving a 1" (2.5cm) end (for stringing pony bead), with green (or white), ch 70. Finish off leaving a 1" end. Starting and ending at center front, weave ch length through ch-1 sps at bottom of bunting. Pull ends even, do not tie. String bead onto each end and knot same as for front ties.
STEP 4: Place bunting on doll. Tie front ties into 3 small bows. Pull bottom drawstring tight until bunting bottom is closed. Tie drawstring into a small bow. Turn hood ruffle back slightly.
